Business check-up – procedure
The business check-up consists of three building blocks: the basic check-up, the whole-body MRI, and the transfer of data onto the individual patient portal myHealth-online.
1. The basic check-up: the basis of good health
The initial step of the business check-up is an extensive internal examination. The patients are examined and accompanied throughout by an experienced specialist in preventive medical care. During an in-depth consultation, the individual and familial medical history is discussed, any current troubles noted, and the examination procedures to follow explained. This is followed by a thorough physical examination, which includes a check-up of the condition of the arteries and nerves, in addition to an ECG, and possibly a Stress-ECG if deemed necessary. An ultrasound examination of the intra-abdominal organs and the thyroid gland is also performed, in addition to a colour Doppler sonography of the carotid artery, as a measure of stroke prevention if such a risk is indicated, and similarly with regard to a heart ECG. During the basic check-up, all important blood values – organ function and metabolic tests, mineral levels, and tumour markers - are ascertained.
2. Whole-body MRI: Safe prevention without any exposure to radiation
Apart from the features of the basic check-up, the business check-up at the Diagnoseklinik München also includes a magnetic resonance whole-body examination – whole-body MRI in short. It is especially suitable for the early detection of diseases of the soft tissue and the bones. Even very minute anomalies of the vessels or arteries can be depicted in a gentle, low-risk, and safe manner – all of this without the use of a catheter or exposure to harmful radiation. The whole-body MRI detects any hidden metastases in the body. Some changes to the body are accompanied by vague problems, such as apathy, tiredness, dizziness, lack of energy, a frequent feeling of being unwell and night sweats. Other malignant changes stay undetected for a long time until suddenly causing serious physical harm. For this reason, the whole body is depicted in approximately 20 lengthwise layers during the whole-body MRI. The examination procedure does not involve the use of radiation, but instead uses a magnetic field: within 45 minutes, whole-body layered pictures providing clear diagnostic evidence are ready to be evaluated. Due to the ease with which it can be evaluated, the whole-body MRI check-up provides an initial examination that can be followed up, should there be any suspicious results, by more in-depth, specialised examinations of individual organs, such as the non-invasive coronary angiography, the virtual coloscopy, or the virtual bronchoscopy (smoker’s check-up).
3. myHealth-online: global health – thanks to a unique digital patient portal
When you consult a new doctor, you are often asked about previous examinations or pictures. You can usually still remember that you had an X-ray of the lungs some time ago, an ultrasound scan done or an ECG, but you do not have any idea as to the whereabouts of these pictures now. This leads to many procedures being performed two or three times, thereby exposing the body to unnecessary amounts of radiation and discomfort. This can be avoided if the earlier results are filed away centrally and made accessible via a code and a password from anywhere. Therefore, the Diagnoseklinik München is proud to offer a worldwide unique ‘Personal Medical Portal’ in digitalised format: myHealth-online, the virtual patientfile available for patients and doctors online. All medical documents are filed centrally and can be accessed via the Internet – e.g. results, X-ray pictures, computed tomography pictures, magnetic resonance imaging pictures, ultrasound photos, laboratory results, operation reports or vaccinations. Therefore, the patient always has all of their important medical data in original quality at their disposal at just the click of a mouse, even when staying abroad. The Diagnoseklinik München is the first clinic worldwide to offer its patients the option to establish a personal medical portal and, thereby, manage all medical data, including picture and video data produced by the most advanced diagnosis techniques.
