High-Tech diagnostics

Highly developed new technologies play a decisive role in diagnostics, because the quality and precision of medical procedures can determine whether a patient lives or dies. Therefore, at the Diagnoseklinik München, our state-of-the-art technologies enable us to perform procedures to the highest possible standard. Here follows a brief summary of the most important procedures we perform:

Ultrafast computed tomography (UFCT)
The machine is able to visualise the minutest structures in the body by taking thinly-layered pictures of the organs and arteries with the aid of a special X-ray tube. These diametric pictures are then processed to produce computerised colour 3D pictures of the body. The images produced are extremely vivid and far more comprehensive than normal CT pictures or X-rays. One other significant advantage is that the level of exposure to radiation is very low and is, therefore, safe.

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
This procedure shows the tissue structures through the use of magnetic fields and radio waves that interact with the atoms in your body. In basic terms, this procedure can be thought of as the gathering together of a series of echoes that are produced by each individual cell. These individual images are then collated and formed into a portrait of the inside of your body. An additional advantage of this method is that the MRI does not involve any exposure to radiation and is, therefore, very gentle on the body.

Ultrasound examination
This method is also called sonography and is considered to be on of the most reliable methods currently used in the field. Similar to the MRI, it is especially sensitive as it is completely painless, and it does not involve any exposure to radiation. The modern machines we use in our clinic deliver precise, high-density, mostly coloured images of the inside of your body. Thereby, they enable our specialists to detect even the smallest of anomalies.

Positron Emission Tomography (PET Scan)
We use this technique specifically to diagnose cancer, as it provides invaluable information about tissue structures, and it can decipher between benign and malignant tissue areas. It does this by measuring the sugar metabolism in the body, which is raised dramatically when malignant tumours are in evidence due to the high energy requirements of cancer cells. Consequently, the PET scan can detect even the smallest tumour or metastasis.

Digital mammography
The mammography is a special X-ray technique for the early diagnosis of breast cancer. Our clinic now offers the brand new digital mammography procedure. As with the vast majority of our equipment, this procedure requires only minimal exposure to radiation and so is much kinder to the body. It also has impressive diagnostic precision, and can detect even the smallest of anomalies in the breast tissue with great accuracy.
